Joshua and the leaders of Israel were deceived, and did the wrong thing. What other options did they have? What should they have done?

In Joshua 9 the leaders of Israel fail to face the changing tactics of their enemy and are deceived into a peace treaty.

Joshua 7:2-9; 8:30-35

In Joshua 8, Israel destroyed the city of Ai entirely, but they were not done until they had carefully built and altar to God, worshiped him, and read his commands to one another.

Discussion of Rahab and Achan in the book of Joshua. Achan lived his entire life surrounded by miracles, while Rahab lived her entire life surrounded by wickedness. They both traded their citizenship. Rahab for better, Achan for worse.

God's people need to stop fearing man, and start boldly trusting in God. Stop compromising sin, be careful to obey all God has commanded, and boldly go on offense.

Immediately before the walls of Jericho fell, Joshua warned the people not take anything for themselves.

Joshua chapter 5 ends with an encounter with God, in which Joshua is put in his rightful position.

In Joshua chapter 5 the nation of Israel stopped to celebrate Passover, and the manna stopped, all at the same time.
